decided to fit the driveshaft and try lifting up the engine today! Turns out that the mustang driveshaft is going to fit without any modifications it would seem!

insanity!

now, just to find the bushing i need and machine it down to spec and get that all bolted up!

it looks as if the bmw seats might not work since they're almost too wide for the car... i guess i'll have to try a few more things, but it's not looking well for those.

What BMW seats do you have...my E36 seats fit the 240 fine and will therefore fit the 122 as I have 240 seats in the 122. Is that milling machine going to see a few stepper motors?

They are E 39 seats from a 2001 M5.

They fit, but the rail will hit the driveshaft tunnel and leave me a little off center from the wheel and that's annoying. So I need to find something low and narrow on the rails.

As far as the mill goes, it's a round column mill, so it loses index if I need to raise or lower more than the 4" of travel the quill has. So, no cnc for this one. BUT I found out I've got access to the two new CNC machines the mining faculty has in exchange for some other favours! I'm going to machine the pinion spacer as soon as I get some tooling. :D

edit:

I SHOULD ADD that the next week or two will be me organizing the shop. i'm back to fort mac this weekend, but i'm hoping to get things moving in the garage again.

That means building a rolling welding cart, complete with both welders, the plasma, the tanks, etc.... clear up some floor space! as well, build the new stand that this milling machine needs. quite possibly make it portable as well with locking casters. and then the crown on the whole thing, mounting the engine in the PV because it's about bloody time, and that lump is sitting in the middle of the garage taking up an insane amount of floor space. Then organizing my tools, clearing out some of the junk, de-greasing the floors and stuff some. anyone need any 240 parts? dual round/flathood/gt front sway bar/anything?

If the flathood is mint, I'd be interested. No idea how I'd get it here though. Probably not gonna be easy.

I think I've got a grille/bezels too, but they're non-gt.

I've got a few early gauge clusters, and a lot of junk.

started building a welding/plasma cutting cart.... just trying to figure out how/where to mount the two tanks (The other tank is a 330 cu.ft. tank), and where to mount the hoses/cords/cables/etc.

for the cylinders, i'm probably going to put a 2x2" post up to the height of the largest cylinder, then put another piece of angle iron at the bottom across the frame, and then another piece on the other side to fit the outside diameter of the cylinder inside the angle iron, then strap them to the post, or use a round hoop to keep them secure.

i'll mount a power bar on top of the tig/stick welder for my grinders/etc. and have the plasma/tig with the 220 extension off the back. then probably mount some angle iron on the front with some tabs to wrap ground wires/torches/guns around.

got the upright on the welding cart done between homework tonight!

lifted the tanks in and strapped them up (It's bloody hard to lift the big tank by the cap by yourself!)

gotta make a rack for the wires/power bar/air feed, and it'll be good to go!

you can see all the junk i'm piling up to take in to the scrap yard/cleaning out the garage in anticipation of my new tubing bender (I may get the front uprights for the suspension on the PV done this winter, and get the frame rails in place/floors/rockers done if i can get a little heater and get the motor mounted.)

I've begun the T5 rebuild now that i have some more precise dial gauges,

wow! this isn't as hard to do as i had thought!

i know it looks like nothing, but this is the first piece i've milled. and i'm darn proud of it!

just took some of the generic T nuts and cut them down to fit in the rong-fu mill/drill.

next: oil preheater, after that, 8.8 spacer.... after that.... who knows!

after mangling a few inches of 1.5" sched 40 BSP to try and make this rear spacer, i figured out that one revolution on my Z axis is 0.105".... soo i decided to build a DRO out of a $45 height gauge and some scrap aluminum from when i was learning to oxy-weld alu.
