Man, shipping would be killer on that. Why not a good junkyard one?

I'm pretty sure - it wasn't much more, that's for sure. I had to supply the core radiator, of course, so they could re-use the end tanks and such, but I remember it was in the $200-250 range anyway. That was also for a 24" core, quite a bit bigger than what's on your cars.

Not many places in town deal with aluminum rad REPAIRS, let alone building something completely custom. Will definitely cost you more than the average shop recoring your copper rad. Ironic, 'cause copper is so much more expensive than aluminum!

... and other than a slight weight savings why use aluminium? copper is a much better material for heat dissipation.

Find end tanks that will fit your car, a custom rad can be made to any size as long as you have the tanks. Making custom tanks will cost a fortune

Copper is a better conductor of heat, and that's about the only advantage it has as a radiator. The biggest advantage with going with aluminum is that it's much stronger, which means the tubes can be longer and thinner, and made with thinner material, giving both a surface area advantage and a thermal advantage. Copper is also more reactive to the elements, so it must be painted which also lowers it's efficiency, and it tends to corrode inside as well which reduces thermal transfer. Overall, aluminum radiators are far more efficient than copper, despite the lower thermal conductivity of the base metal. The fact that they're lighter and prettier is a bonus.

*saves up for a custom AL rad, and dies a little inside*
