a beyond dyno day was held last night

here is a quote from a noob in a civic

Quote:
Well my runs were a bit dissapointing... It's because we didn't quite reach my top RPM (I don't think matt wanted to push it too hard) My top HP should be around 8000-8200... not 7100... didn't push it past 7600... my results were:
114.0HP @ 7100
85.9 ft/lbs @ 6900
Either that... or my engine is pretty damn tired (losing its good compression) either way, i'm gonna get it tuned, and find out whats up with the power loss... supposed to be 170 at the flywheel... and even considering the power loss through drivetrain and mustang dyno... that still only puts me at about 157-160Hp... and I have intake/exhaust... good for a few more HP.... strange eh?

wait intake AND exhaust, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit he should be throwin down over 200 at the wheels

(there's me being a pain in the ass again)

ciao

Uh ya, peak hp was measured at 7100, max rpm 7600 so power was obviously going DOWN after 7100 but he thinks he can get more power by revving to 8000?
Must have been an old SIR? 160 stock?

exactly what people pointed out, cant just make power revving more for no reason

not sure what car but i think it had the B16a engine...1.6L of garbage

85 ft/lbs torque...that's what volvo 200 series wheels nuts are torqued to

hee hee

Ya, plus if he thinks he's getting 160 at the crank when he's putting 114 to the wheels, that's almost 30% drivetrain loss. I don't think so. Probably seeing the conservative dyno numbers matt was mentioning before. That's where it will be good to have a baseline car and some 1/4 mile times to compare to.

Be prepared, this is a mustang dyno so if your numbers come up low don't be too disappointed. Graeme was just telling me about number differences between the mustang and the dyno-jet (324/290) on some of his friends car.

Just a heads up.
