](*,) <-- is about how my day went yesterday and today

old manifold out

Image

new ported 90+ bolted to the turbo

Image

Image

Image

nissan UD intercooler, rushed, i will have to fix the mounting system...well make one anyway

Image

Image

Image

Image

the Al hood...which i am going to go black for color, at least for this summer, i just want this F***ing car to be done so i can enjoy it

Image

now this is kinda funny, well i thought it was after it happened, sometimes when i get angry it helps me to throw things, i relax after doing it, so i had a 3/8" ratchet in my hand and well from the driveway to the backyard gate, it's around 20 feet away, probably a little more...anyway...

Image

Image

Image

Image

so i did finally get the turbo/manifold/DP/Oil lines (thanks athal for coming by for a lil bit to aid) all bolted up, as well as some IC piping

but nowhere near driveable right now...plus i have to re-wire the foglights etc etc etc

anyway

i am tired

ciao

Dude, it's close to driving! At least a helluva lot closer than my car! Glad I could help a little bit, sometimes having a fresh set of non-tired, non-frustrated fingers to start a few bolts is what you need. AND throwing the odd driver. I'd say it was more like 10meters or 30 ft

made some headway tonight with the warmer weather...so much blue i dont know if i can handle to massive power increase

first of all I painted stuff and re did the IC "mounts", it sits a lot better now...tin-snips and pliers ftw when modding the engine bay...had the engine almost all back together...

Image

Image

Image

Image

also painted the hood, well started to...sanded and primered, and first coat of un even paint layed down  i like it but not so much cause it's not uniform yet...plus it is black, but better than the original grey, plus i got rid of the rock chips on it

Image

AND at a certain angle of light reflection...there's a hidden message

Image

so all in all i had a better night tonight...seems when making htings pretty and installing things which dont require more than a screwdriver i do pretty okay....

no wrenches thrown at the the fence tonight...but a funny moment did happen

fired up the engine...shoot that sounds like open headers, oh no...exhaust manifold gasket leak? DP flange? start to feel around...oh yeah the O2 sensor hole in the DP...yeah i should put that thing back in... ](*,)

then i looked down...didnt JB weld the oil return like i wanted to...well now i know i have to...

Image

firday here we come...jenni is having a girls night out...more love for the 760!

ciao

I say this with much love and no mockery: throttle the hell back on the blue, son. In my honest opinion, it's starting to look way too messy and cluttered under there, and it's kinda ... um ... what's that word?

What happened to polishing the IC? Got to be too much work, trying to smooth everything down from the rough cast? I REALLY don't like it blue - looks far too ghetto in my opinion.

Here's what I'd do, if you want to hear it:

Remove IC, take it to someone who can give it a chemical cleaning inside and out (will improve the efficiency two-fold - gets rid of the oxidization inside and the paint outside), and stick with polishing the tanks. At the very least, keep sanding 'em until they look uniform and you get to about 320 grit.

Look for some chrome or polished aluminum tubing on eBay, with whatever elbows it might have, and a bunch of blue silicone couplers, and cut it to fit. Get rid of ALL the black elbows & fittings. Something like this would get you started: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-5-Inte ... dZViewItem

Look at some Goodyear Hi-Miler radiator hose kits - again blue silicone. Something like this, but they're not nearly as faded as they look in this picture: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1986-93- ... dZViewItem

Do something about that monochrome valve cover. Polish the lettering at the very least.

Get that timing cover on there. Again polished.

Then you'll need to look at it again and say, "how cheap does this split loom all over the place look? What could I use instead?

I know, I know - looking under the hood of my cars doesn't exactly scream "this guy's detail oriented", but I've looked under the hood of enough show cars to know what I like to see and what I don't: Clean and high tech, not just colour coded.

i know it's a cluster fvck under there right now...but A. i dont care to spend the time to polish it anymore and B. since other people have beat me to it for their engine bays i said screw it for this year...

i am bidding here...http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... RK:MEBI:IT

so we will see...not spending another 150 CAD on the engine this year just for looks, i always can close the hood

and wire loom in my opinion looks better and functions better than 21 year old split all to hell rubber coating whatever the hell it is volvo uses

trust me it was isaac esque a few weeks ago with many wires everywhere

anyway, opinion noted and yes it will prob change, just not right now

ciao

Wire loom to cover wires is fine. Wire loom to cover hoses is not. I gots me plenty of that stuff - in black - inside my engine bay for the wiring harness.

Even better, i found some of my braided silicone (or whatever) 1" hose I used for my oil return. Take 6 inches of that, cut 3 inches out of your return line and JB the bottom section to the block.

This stuff is holding up alot better than my lower rad hose which is getting all squishy where it's exposed to the turbo/manifold heat. TIme to fit a heatshield.

Man is the website slow this morning...
