Today was a good day. All the bits for the brakes fit well and the car gods were on my side, the new brakes are installed and fit fantastic (thanks Matt & Dale). All that is left are the brake lines which I will finish as soon as the stores open.

As a bonus the Wilwood 12.19"x1.25" rotors with SL6 - 6 piston calipers fit behind 16" Hydra wheels with a 5mm spacer

for pictures see my album http://www.calgaryvolvoclub.com/gallery ... ?g2_page=4

Was looking forward to seeing these pix... Thanks for posting!

You going to post them in the Wilwood Brake thread on Tbricks?

Edit - never mind - I did it.

Looks awesome Ian. I said it on T'Bricks and I'll say it here too. Get those MasItaly wheels on there so you can see the damn things. Those Hydras cover everything up! :P

BTW...when I was at Trevor's shop earlier in the week, I spotted 4 MasItaly wheel boxes. I popped one open to find a shiny new unfinished 19X10 wheel. Not even any lug holes. Apparently Western Motorsports brought in a bunch of them a while back and these were the last ones. He paid $100 each for them...Not that a 19X10 wheel would even fit on any of our cars but holy crap!

Were spacers needed with those?

Yes, but not to clear the calipers, spacers are needed so the tires clear the struts. Without the spacers the tires "just" touch the strut tube, but there is plenty of clearance for the calipers

So... got the brakes all installed, bled, etc.

Took it for a test drive and bedded in the pads and rotors, I can give you my impressions of the conversion in two very simple words

 HOLY SHIT!

The brakes are unbelievable, easy to modulate but I can lock the front wheels at will, very very dificult to do with the stock brakes. Now I just have to completely check over the install again, look for leaks, I think I will bleed the brakes again, and then just the scoop and cowl induction.

:D
