I know a thread has just started on T'Bricks, I also know I don't want to organize the event (I don't think Dale or Matt do either) but how about this location for an idea (if this is going to happen we need to book a location NOW)

The Nelson, Castlegar, Trail area does have some nice roads and is about 1/2 way between Vancouver & Calgary, it is also close to the border for our US friends. I found one interesting place we could stay (if they have room) http://www.karibupark.com/

WHat do others think

I think its a great idea! Closer for us, and some new roads to drive. The area is beautiful. I'm trying to plan my summer holidays around this so I can make it this year. Going to the Kootenays makes it even better.

Edit: Okay, just read the TB thread. If this happens not on the August long weekend I may not be coming....I just planned my summer trip to Ontario to visit family not on this weekend so I could go. Poop.

When we'll go to Vancouver, can we drive by highway 1 along Fraser River instead of Coquihalla Highway? Not that I want to save 10$ (that will be spend in gas anyway) but I did it last month and it much more fun.

Karibu Park is a great idea!

I'd love to have the PacNW 2007 meet there!

That looks like a great place Ian. Like I said in the TB thread, if we're goign to do it, we'd better book it pronto. We might not have many weekends to choose from already...

I'd like to book all 8 cabins...the entire facility...

As posted on T'Bricks

OK there appears to be interest, so at the risk of becoming the "organizer" here is what I propose.

I have tentatively booked cabins at Karibu Park (http://www.karibupark.com/index.htm) for the evenings of July 2 & 3. This would work into both the US & Canadian long weekends with July 2 a holiday in Canada & July 4 for the US.

The cabins I have booked will accommodate about 4 people each in beds (more for those that want to sleep on the floor) at a cost of about $25 per person per night (very cheap).
Some of the beds are only doubles and to get the $25 price you would have to share (just warning you in advance)

Camping is also available but why camp at the price to stay in a cabin?

We could also see if a Dyno Day could be arranged in Calgary on the weekend prior to the event (June 30 or July 1)

We need to act on this quickly, who is interested?
A deposit would be required soon.

Thanks for organizing Ian! I'm definitely interested, though this early it's hard to commit...

My plans going to Ontario have changed thanks to my sister...I'm hoping the dates for PNW can be finalized soon so I can still make accomodating plans out east.

I have a place to stay in Nelson, so I won't need a cabin. Thanks for looking into this Ian, and for taking the initiative.

This is again a duplicate from my thread on T'Bricks, but we are attempting to agree on a date.
