PacNW Aug 10-13, 2007

Welcome to the official planning thread for PacNW 2007

* Date - August 10, 11, 12 & 13
* Location - Slocan Valley, BC Canada
* http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...13.886719&om=1
* Accommodations: Karibu Park Cottages & Campground http://www.karibupark.com/
* I have tentatively block booked 5 cabins, these are available on a first come first serve basis and will only be held until February 23, 2007
* Cabins have either 2 queen or double beds and cost about $100 per night (since they sleep 4 people that is only $25 each per night)
* We suggest that you talk amongst yourselves and agree upon roommates you would like to "bunk" with, then reserve right away.
* If the cabins become fully booked there are some trailers in the campground they rent out at a reasonable price, These are not serviced so you have to use the campground facilities, but it is a dry place to sleep.
* Camping is also available but again I recommend you book a spot, tent sites cost about $15 per night for un-serviced sites, for more information http://www.karibupark.com/campground_rates.htm
* Reservations, call 1-888-452-7428 to book your cabin (please book the cabins as a group of 4) or campsite & pay deposit –
* Mention you are with the TurboBricks Group

Planned events: (these are not finalized and could change)
August 10,

* Everyone arrives, relax, meet, chat
* Supper BarBQ hamburgers & chips supplied

August 11, (215 km)

* First cruise, starting at Karibu Park we drive north up highway 6 to New Denver, this route takes us past some old ghost towns with could provide excellent photo opportunities. (40 km)
* From New Denver we head east to Kaslo (45 km) where we will take a break and explore Cody Caves, Yes real Limestone caves http://www.codycaves.ca/ (cost $15)
* After spelunking (cave exploring) and a lunch break we continue south to Ainsworth where we will finish the day at the natural Hot Springs (cost $7.50) (25 km)
* Ainsworth back to Karibu Park (105 km)

August 12, (360 km)

* This is a full day cruise day,
* (the route allows those that have to leave on Sunday to travel part way with the group, those heading back to the US can cross the boarder south of Creston. Those heading west can exit at Salmo)
* Karibu Park to Nelson (60 km)
* Nelson to Kootenay Bay (40 km with ferry ride)
* Kootenay Bay to Creston (80 km)
* Creston to Salmo (85 km)
* Salmo to Karibu Park (95 km)

August 13

* Our final day and a travel day home
* Nothing is planned, but there may be time to re-visit an area close by, or take some final pictures

For those that do not read T'Bricks.
The event is receiving a lot of interest, cabins are "going fast" so make sure you book soon if you want a cabin. If you are planning on camping that is great, but I would reserve a spot.

Here is a link to the T'Bricks thread
