Stupid telemarketers! I HATE THEM!!! :axe:

95% of the calls are these damn telemarkerters. No joke, my parents calls once in a while amd coworker barely more often. I'm about to throw that damn phone out by the window.

Call display is worth the $5/month to screen those bastards. I get at least one call a day from a 1-800, or some ontario number I don't know.

I've just stopped answering the phone if I'm home during the day.

Get an air horn, the kind you'd use for signalling or honking at a hockey game. When a telemarketer phones, you wait 'till you get a person and then honk at them.

Or you just tell them to take you off their phone list. I think they've got to, but that doesn't stop the next guy from phoning you.

As Matt said ask to be removed from their list, but that is a temporary fix.

All call centers use an automatic dialer that is set up to recognize answering machines, it does this by the short delay or pause there is when an answering machine starts. If you delay in saying anything after you pick up the phone it will think you are an answering machine and hang up. But your name is put back into the list

... or simpler solution is to just hang up

Problem is: among the telemarketers, I often get calls from telus, the only home phone provider here. No way I'll get more service from them.

I was thinking about getting a cell phone, but Matt's idea is nice! I have one of these horn for bears.

Last one: "congratulation, yon won a free trip to vegas. You just need tobe 25 years old and have a credit card with you"

we get 2 calls a day from cbcl collection agency for a 407 toll that we got approx 9 years ago when searching for a house in ontario. Then all the calls from the 1-800 numbers and the rest....
