A real FUN day today ... not
Decided to change the rear axle bearings and seal ... without a press or tool #6375492

Axles come out easy enough, then beat the crap out of the bearing retainer collar ... with some gentle persuation off it comes.

Cut apart the bearing cage and take a side grinder to the inner race, grind it about 1/2 way through in 2 places, then beat on it for a while with a chisel ... pop ... off it comes.

Clean up all the parts, find a medium length piece of thick wall pipe and an old bearing race that is just a bit larger than the new bearing being installed. Put on the axle retainer, the outer seal, slide the bearing on and beat an the end of the pipe. Soon the bearing is seated.

Now follow the same process with the outer bearing collar. Change the inner axle seal, install the axle and side 1 is done.

Repeat on side 2, clean up, have a shower, drink beer then wine

Tomorrow will be more fun

Glad to see everything bolted up as planned with the brakes. Looking good. Just need to get some wheels in front of them to show off the size of the rotors and calipers relative to the rest of the assembly...

No supercharger :( but a different intake and carb

Calipers are painted with the VHT caliper paint and then baked in the BarBQ (don't tell Joan  )
