which makes some sort of sense becausue she is high milage...but that doesn't mean i like it! when I'm driving (I notice it at slower speeds) she's creaking...the creak comes from the front end, I don't know enough about it, at first I was thinking it was suspension but since it does it on pretty roads as well as the hell they call 16th ave...I'm wondering if it could be engine mounts? sadly, I don't have a means of recording this...but does anyone have any ideas?

Strut bushings, most likely. Or just about any bushing in the suspension with that kind of mileage will be pretty worn if it's original, leading to squeaks and clunks.

Just my guess, I don't know alot about the front wheel drive stuff though...

Check the top caps on the struts, or the endlink bushings. Need to lift the car up and feel for any dragging on the bearings on the top caps while someone is turning the wheel. endlinks you can push and pull and see if they move.

Andy is our local Volvo tech, he works at Valentine;-) Next time people meet up, we can jack your car up quickly and check if you can't find a buddy to help in the meantime.

The end links usually make a clunk sound rather than a creak. Balljoints can make a hell of a creak, though. Upper strut bushings is my first guess.

oh hurrah! and much love to the new car boys too!!!

Just a thought though, going back on topic lol...if it was the suspension, wouldn't it be creaking when i bounce the car around?

I've seen motor mounts cause wicked squeaks/creaks, but never on a Volvo. That being said, I'm not 100% sure that one wouldn't be your problem.

You should get someone to go for a spin with you.

Probably later in the week so my knee can get a bit better and I can be more mobile.
