Some of you guys who are interested in or have already converted your 940 over to manual may be interested in this. I did some calling around today and I`ve found a machine shop that can take an older style flat flywheel and drill holes around it so it can be used with LH 2.4. The place is called Cactus machining on 3659 - 19th St. NE (250-2832). They guessed it would take something on the order of 2 hours and they charge $75 per hour. We could get it done a bit cheaper if we can bring in 2 or 3 flywheels to get done at the same time. That way he`ll only have to set up and program the machine one time for the lot of flywheels rather than have to do it each time a flywheel is brought in on its own.

This may be the simplest and cheapest way to get a lighter flywheel for an LH 2.4 car. You`ll have to use a smaller clutch, however, but that`s not such a bad thing. Having a smaller clutch will mean that the clutch will probably slip before something in the tranny will break.

Let me know if anyone would want to get a flywheel done when I get mine done. That`ll probably be in late August or early September.

Roger

I am not sure what an LH 2.4 car is? Is an 83 240 turbo one? If so i would like to lighten my flywheel hopefully next week. Please let me know...

90+ 700/900 turbos got LH2.4, Houston. You never even had LH2.2, or 2.0 for that matter. You had K-jet. If your car was a non-intercooled '83, it will already have the light flywheel, and if it's got the factory intercooler upgrade, it may or may not have the heavy one.

Athal and Chris Morrison are the only other ones I know of around here with LH2.4 cars containing automatics, and I know Chris already has a flywheel worked out, while Athal has no plans to converting his 945 that I know of. Nobody else will be interested in this, I think. You'd better just go ahead, Roj.

buzz....wrong.

LH 2.4 is the engine management. A manual swap on your car is completely different.
