Friend of mine who's a bit of a serious collector, got hold of a 220 (ie 122 wagon) that been parked since 1999. Very little rust- swears the fender lips, floors, etc are very decent. One or both rockers are rusty.

I tend to be suspicious of cars parked that long (brakes tend to be junk),but apparently this car was dealership maintained (!?!) until the owner passed away in 1999. So it was by no means run ito the ground before being parked.

It is a 1965, so front discs but single circuit.

Beige, with maroon int, and mis-matched later 122 caramel front seats.
Roof rack. Lots of spares, many of which are apparently quite nice, incl a set of "all but NOS" hubcaps.

I am going tonight to get pictures. Will post more then.
The guy describes it as being pretty decent throughout, but for some reason has not tried starting or driving it. Maybe I am misinterpreting him as to how good it may be? Again, will take a look for y'all. In the past he has been, if anything, over critical of "condition"

These are cool cars, with the better rear axle location than the sedan. Somewhat heavy.

I know the internet guys I remember from a few years ago that wanted them (Doug K, the guy from GRMagazine, AspiratorJohn) all got theirs. Who else was looking for one... preferably more locally?

Ian

Craig (122_Canuck) is looking for one, bigtime. Doesn't have room for one just yet, though, but I'm sure he can find some storage if the right one comes along.

I'll store it for Craig if it's what he wants. That sounds too good to pass up...

OK, I need pictures...the rusty rockers are not a big concern, the rest of the car is. It needs to be complete as I hate having to look high and low for some silly part and there are a few for the wagon.

Let me know, fingers crossed.

Sorry, got distracted got home late from looking at it, and yesterday we had an "issue" with one of the hoists at work... [tech is fine, car is written off], so I had other things on my mind 12:30-1:30  . (I shut off home 'net a while back). Camera turned out to have dead batteries, so no piccies.

Car is really really rough. It has no structure left to either rocker, the body is rusted out below the tailgate. Dents in most panels. Oddly the front aprons where the fenders attach seem decent, and the front fenders- one definitely is new, and the other is very good, but I don't think new, though it's been 15years since the alleged replacement.
It has a b20, with injection head and 32/36 DGV Weber.
There are a fair number of receipts, but they are just showing that it was an elderly owner who did nothing for himself, and didn't have a very good judgement.
Overall, that's a big part of what's wrong with it: it has the worst of what can be thrown at it by an aged owner who knows nothing about cars, working with 3rd rate mechanics in the 1980's to get a few more miles out of it.... butchered electrics with switches drilled into the dash all over...etc etc

Additional loose parts are limited and not worth anything.

Someone tried to tow it by first the front bumper, then the sway bar, so mounting points for both are torn away, which brings to attention that there is lots of structural rust in the front end.

Tailgate latch works (rare to do so), doors open & close well, windows wind up & down (rare as well!), car is fairly complete, but it would be useful only as a parts car, IMO. (and I have pretty low standards).

He'd probably take $400 for it...

That's what I was afraid of...Edmonton car = rusty. I'll take a pass, but thanks for going to have a look.

Is that Charlie trying to sell it? Sounds like the wagon he was selling a while back...

99% sure, not, as he'd know how to have towed it.
I mean, def not him, but guessing it's not the same car either, got from him and now in this guy's hands. I suspect this car was out on some acreage in tall grass... always a good way to give corrosion a "boost"

He phoned me at work Friday to thank me for putting the ad up, apparently he sold it this past week.
He's putting some deal togeher to buy a 544, now, he thinks, but was evasive... maybe bidding on Ebay? Who knows.
